The SUBONE Field Drawing, done in June of 2006, was a collaborative project bringing together art, science and technology. The project was inspired by the language and form of graffiti and was realized in both virtual and actual space.
The following people collaborated on the SUBONE Field Drawing: Tim Clorius, Artist and Founder of SUBONE Urban Mural Workshops; Andrew Coffin, Artist and SUBONE Arts Coordinator; Jan Piribeck, Artist and Associate Professor of Art, USM (University of Southern Maine); Lauren Deck and Shannon Gray, students (now alumni) in the Department of Art, USM. The project was endorsed by the Portland Percent for Art Committee and was part of a larger mural workshop project funded by the Maine Arts Commission. Equipment and technical support was provided by the USM GIS lab and Portland Parks and Recreation.
